The Housing Greensboro (HGI) Minor Home Repair Program is aimed at providing minor home repair assistance and home maintenance education to qualifying individuals who are owner-occupants of their home in Greensboro and below specific income levels. The Minor Home Repair Program is one way in which HGI carries out its mission to provide decent, safe and affordable housing to low-income families working towards the elimination of substandard housing through services and education that prevents homes from deteriorating to substandard conditions.
HGI’s programs are built on a model that utilizes volunteers from the community providing the labor to complete the repairs which are funded by contributions from the community and payments from the homeowners for the materials and supplies. The funds obtained cover the costs for materials, supplies and HGI’s labor to oversee and manage the projects to completion. The homeowner also agrees to participate in a program of instruction on home maintenance and energy conservation. We also establish additional partnerships with non-profit organizations in the community to provide additional services to homeowners when needs are identified by our staff beyond housing.
